Bitter End Recap and the Introduction of New

It is has been way too long since I posted something here.

In the interim...

I made an additional trip to my hometown Grand Rapids, April 1 and 2, to attend the Festival of Faith and Music as a workshop presenter, and hang out with (read: intimidatedly hover around) the likes of fellow musicians and presenters Sufjan Stevens, Daniel Smith aka Brother Danielson of the Danielson Familie, and David Bazan of Pedro the Lion, to name a few. Did I actually introduce myself to these guys? Well, not so much. They hung out in a clique like the cool guys in choir class. But the back story is, I was still feeling inadequate from an incident at the festival two years prior, when Daniel Smith had made me feel kind of dumb for asking him a question about his music. Ouch. Wounded pride or not, he's still great at what he does, in all of its glorious avant-garde weirdness.

In more encouraging news, I just played my first solo show at the Bitter End. Leading up to it I sent out three publicity emails, and distributed a great poster designed for me by Danny Palmer. (To see that poster, for as long as the link is up, click here). The gig went really well. It was truly delightful. Great audience, very attentive, and I felt like I gave them the best that I have.

I plan to be better about this blog deal. Just one of my new resolutions...
