Pasting Together the Publicity Push

Good news! The go-ahead has been given, though not without having been given a slim timeframe for consideration. No problem! Following some quick legwork yesterday, we put together a kit with a spankin' new press release and overnighted it to Paste along with, of course, an advance copy of the album.

Other lines out:
-an outstanding request to Schuler Books and Music in Grand Rapids to carry the CD
-the green light to send the album to NYC-based, Fordham U-operated radio station, WFUV, for airplay consideration
-an as-yet unfinished registration with CDBaby.com, whom I intend to manage the online sales.

We will be tweaking the press release this weekend with intent to send out an armada of press kits early next week, but it felt good to get on our feet for the Paste Kit and turn it around in a day.

September ROCKS!

Hey, so the order came in, and I have 1000 CDs sitting in my bedroom right now, awaiting some serious distribution... phase 2 begins. (I'm not sure when Phase 1 began, though I think it did contain several subphases.)

Publicity goes into full gear now. There is no moving ahead without spreading the word. SB is helping me out, working on a one-page sassy press release that is going to have some great elaborate metaphor weaving all the way through it. I, meanwhile, am compiling my contact list and throwing it in a semi-organized fashion onto a label templates document for an impending mass mailing. This afternoon I emailed Nick Purdy at Paste Magazine with hopes that he will remember me from the music festival we both attended in April. I gave him my five-song EP then; would he be willing to have my full-length disc reviewed if it met Paste standards? That's what I asked; answer to come.
