August and Everything After

Okay, I ripped off the title...

The CD package is in Discmakers' able hands now. The credit card number has been handed over. I am about to be much poorer - bring it on, yeah!...

While I wait for my CD to become multiplied, I certainly have much to keep me busy. Booking a CD release party has proven more difficult than expected. I may have to push it back to October in order to get the venue I want, which is booked straight through September weekends. (I inquired about playing there only two weeks ago - my fault for procrastinating.)

This week I am finalizing and rehearsing a new song for public debut this coming Sunday. I will get to have a talented band back me up. If you are in the area and interested in hearing, come to 1st Baptist Church at Broadway and W. 79th Street at 7 PM, August 28. That is, a worship service in New York City. The message of the evening: "Theological Reflections on Bling."

September 10 I will be playing a set at a street fair, on e. 74th near 1st Ave, 12:30-1:15.

I always feel good when gigs are on the books. The next step would be getting this party scheduled, and then making a publicity push. Friend/advisor SB can't be as actively involved in publicity as first discussed, so I need to cook up the key ingredients first and then run them by her for SB-ification. The crummy thing about doing one's own publicity: even if you're good, trying to tell people that you're good is never as positively effective as having someone else do it for you. Oh well.

PS. Vacation on WA's rural and stunning Olympic Penninsula with the family (minus two) was nourishing to the soul. Lake Crescent. Hurricane Ridge. The beach at LaPush. Murphy the Pomeranian. (He might make it into a song someday.) It took me a couple days to settle back into the urban daily routine, but at least I have stones from the ocean, already polished.
